Dieppe region

(Still experimenting with presentation of Google Photos albums after the demise of Picasa web-albums.)

We made a three-day trip in mid-August to places Monet and Debussy worked. Pourville-sur-Mer, Miromesnil château (where we stayed) and garden, dinner at Le Colombier (Offranville), Varengeville-sur-Mer (and Bois des Mortiers gardens), 11th-century Arques-la-Battaille château, Puys-Plage, St. Wandrille monastery, river cruise down the Seine from Rouen.

Uncle Chris in Paris

Chris came to Paris with his Centenary College program. We met up on Monday, 8 August, at the Place du Châtelet, took a walking tour through the Marais and Place des Voges, and had dinner at the Brasserie Bofinger (1864). On Wednesday, 10 August, he took the train from Paris to Méricourt (with a two-hour delay when tree branches brought the electric wires down), where we had a splendid meal of melon/prosciutto, pork products, various cheeses, and tarte aux pommes. We then took him to the airport via the locks on the Seine.

With that particular meal, we celebrated what would have been W. Kern Holoman's 96th birthday with his favorite sort of repast.

The red doors are those of the Hotel des Ambassadeurs de Holland (1660) in the Marais.
